AI / MEN
Il poster AI / MEN è stato disegnato da Armando Milani e Paolo Benevelli per la mostra
“Perspectives on AI” dell’AGI Congress Basel 2024. Spazio espositivo Tank – Academy of Art and
Design Basel FHNW.
Artificial intelligence is increasingly present in our daily reality, influencing the various areas of
personal and professional life. In the face of this technological progress important questions arise:
will we really be able to manage AI consciously or will we suffer it as an inescapable destiny?
Sometimes we get scared, fearing the loss of control, but has mankind trained AI to reflect on the
results of centuries of history of conflicts, religious wars, imperialism, ambitions for power,
dictatorships and their dramatic consequences?
Creativity, which feeds on emotions and imagination, is the ability to create, observing things from
non-ordinary points of view. It is thinking “outside the box”, to find new and innovative solutions.
In contrast, AI, while demonstrates extraordinary abilities in calculating, processing and analyzing
data, lacks the imaginative and intuitive component that characterizes human thought. It only
follows predetermined patterns, statistical algorithms and scheduled logic: it is incapable of
grasping the essence of emotions, understanding or experiencing them.
This contrast of worlds raises crucial questions: will AI ever be able to match human ingenuity
consequently assuming a predominant role in our society? Who will emerge victorious in this
epochal clash: the human mind, with its extraordinary capacity to feel and create, or an
increasingly sophisticated machine?
